KUCHING: A motorcyclist died after he collided with a four-wheel drive at 5.40 yesterday morning along Jalan Usaha Jaya, Muara Tabuan 2. Puuan anak Panjang, 43, from Mongkos, Serian a factory worker in the area was going to work and riding in front of the four-wheel drive which lost control and rammed into him. The motorbike he was riding came to a stop at the edge of a drain.
His friend said Puuan rented a room nearby so it would be easier for him to go to work. The four-wheel driver, a teenager, aged 19, from Rumah Jambai Kerapa Spak, Betong escaped unhurt.
The victim was confirmed dead at the scene while his remains were brought to the Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem.
Sarawak Head of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Supt Al e x son Naga Chabu confirmed the case and said the driver will be charged under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
