SARIKEI: A 24-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he was believed to have rear-ended a parked ten-tonne lorry and plunged into a drain at Jalan Rajang here today (Feb 21).
The Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) stated that they received a distress call regarding the incident at 8.15 am and took only a two-minute drive to the scene, which was located just 2km from the Sarikei station.
“Upon arrival, a man, identified as Chieng Siew Heng, was found unconscious in the drain.
“The firefighters immediately extricated the victim from the drain using a stretcher,” said the statement today (Feb 21).
The victim was pronounced dead by paramedics and handed over to the police for further action.
The operation ended at 8.51 am.
