KAPIT: A 32-year-old man was killed in a solo crash after losing control of his bike and plunging into a roadside drain near Nanga Belawai, opposite the Yong Bridge on Thursday (May 29) evening.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) said it received a distress call at 6.57 pm and immediately deployed a team from the Kapit fire station.

“Access to the scene proved challenging, as the accident occurred across the river. Firefighters had to use an aluminium boat to reach the location.

“Upon arrival, rescuers found the victim unconscious in the drain,” the department said in a statement.

They added that the man was brought out of the drain; however, paramedics later confirmed the victim had died at the scene.

The body was subsequently handed to the police for further investigation and to the hospital for a post-mortem.
