KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he lost control of his machine and crashed head-on into a four-wheel drive (4WD) at KM8, Jalan Kota Samarahan-Sadong Jaya, yesterday (Jun 12).
Kota Samarahan district police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said the incident was reported at 3.05 pm.
“Initial investigation found that the 4WD, driven by a 37-year-old man, was heading from Asajaya towards BDC, Kuching.
“Upon reaching KM8, the vehicle, which was moving straight, suddenly collided with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
“The rider is believed to have lost control and veered into the path of the 4WD,” he said in a statement today.
Damataries added the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem.
“The 4WD driver escaped unhurt and The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
He appealed to eyewitnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation.
