MIRI: A motorcyclist was killed in a collision while crossing the road at a P-turn section along the Pan Borneo Highway near Rumah Robert, Batu Niah, here on Friday night.
Miri Police Chief, ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, said the 7:40 pm incident occurred when the 40-year-old rider and his 37-year-old pillion passenger were crossing the road after exiting Simpang Rumah Robert towards Rumah Lembung.
He said a car driven by a 25-year-old man, with an 18-year-old male passenger, was travelling from Miri towards Bintulu when it hit the motorcycle.
“The motorcyclist died at the scene, while the pillion passenger was referred to the Batu Niah clinic for further treatment. The driver and passenger of the car were unhurt,” he said in a statement.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
