SRI AMAN: Four motorcyclists who were caught on camera making a dangerous U-turn against the flow of traffic along Kilometre 23 of the Sri Aman-Sarikei Road have been identified and fined by police.
The incident, which occurred on June 24 at 5:56 pm, came to light after dashcam footage from a member of the public was uploaded to a Facebook page, showing the motorcyclists riding against the traffic flow.
The Sarawak Contingent Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department said the footage showed the motorcyclists – each riding a Yamaha Lagenda, Honda EX5, Yamaha Y15, and Modenas Kriss – entering a P-turn and going against the traffic flow at Kilometre 23 of the Sri Aman-Sarikei Road.
“On June 27 at approximately 9:10 am, all the motorcyclists involved turned up at the Sri Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division to assist with investigations.
“Initial findings confirmed that the individuals had admitted to committing the offence of making an illegal turn at a prohibited location as they were in a hurry,” it said in a statement.
All four were found to have violated Rule 13 of the Road Traffic Rules 166/59 for making a U-turn at a non-designated location.
A police summons under PDRM (K) 257 was issued to each of the motorcyclists.
