BEIJING: The strategic partnership between InvestSarawak and China Smart Energy Industry Alliance (CSEIA), and the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University Corporation Limited (THAD) advances Sarawak’s commitment to carbon neutrality while fostering innovation and collaboration in green energy solutions.

This also include investments in renewable energy, state-of-the-art technology transfer, and human capital development.

InvestSarawak in a statement said the agreement outlines a comprehensive framework to develop key areas such as carbon-neutral industrial parks, green city projects, renewable energy projects, and the establishment of a Carbon Neutral Industry Research Institute in Sarawak.

“These efforts align with Sarawak’s vision to become a leading green economy player, supported by transformative investments in hydrogen energy, zero-carbon ports and photovoltaic initiatives.

“Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the parties will engage in cross-border technical exchanges, industry summits, and cooperative projects that leverage advanced Chinese technologies,” it said.

InvestSarawak added that the collaboration highlights state’s growing role as a hub for sustainable investments and innovation, bridging Asia’s leading markets.

“Under the terms of the MoU, the collaboration will prioritise efforts in Sarawak to promote carbon neutrality include developing technology pathways for carbon-neutral solutions at building and industrial park levels, establishing a dedicated research institute to drive innovation in this field, and offering green certification and consulting services for infrastructure and buildings.

“Additionally, initiatives focus on standardising carbon-neutral technologies and advancing scientific research to ensure consistent implementation and progress.

“The collaboration aims to deliver tangible outcomes through strategic projects, such as green building certifications, the Sarawak Green Energy Exchange and large-scale investments in renewable energy infrastructure,” InvestSarawak added

The MoU, signed recently at Tsinghua University, widely regarded as the top university in China, was witnessed by Deputy Premier and Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
