KUCHING: Batang Ai National Park organised its first meeting and Special Park Committee (SPC) appointment ceremony yesterday (Mar 23).
According to Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), the event was organised by the person-in-charge of Batang Ai National Park, Addrin Anding.
The corporation said the objective of the meeting was to form a committee that would help the Controller of National Park in park management and help promote and create awareness about the park.
“Concurrently, the meeting was held to enhance ties and cooperation between the national park and local community.
“Eleven committee members and six proposed honorary wildlife wardens from the six adjacent longhouses were present to witness and participate in the simple yet meaningful ceremony,” it said.
The appointment ceremony was officiated by Sophia Sik, who represented SFC regional manager, Kuching.
