SIBU: Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) is extending its course counselling hours on Saturday (July 26) from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm at the campus.

Those who wish, especially Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers and those considering furthering their academic journey, are encouraged to come and find out how they can achieve their aspirations or career goals through MPI.

The extended hours will be a great avenue for busy working adults and parents with children to explore their tertiary education options.

MPI’s Chief Executive Officer and Principal, Dr Lu Huong Ying, said this is a good opportunity to talk to the course counsellors and tour around the campus.

“Programmes offered at MPI are robust and aligned with the requirements of the relevant industries, and are developed in close collaboration with professional bodies and experts in the field,” she said through a press release today.

She said this would ensure employability among students once they graduate from MPI.

“Among the programmes available at MPI include Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (ACCA FIA), Accounting, Taxation, Marketing, MUET, Social Work, Business Management, Computer Science, Finance and Investment, Early Childhood Education, and Intensive English,” she added.

“As part of the commitment to deliver industry and community-relevant programmes, our new programme, namely Diploma in Nursing, is being developed and will be offered soon.”

For full-time students who need financial aid to start their programme with MPI, they can tap into the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN).

Meanwhile, a total of 16 companies throughout Sarawak will be participating in ‘Karnival Kerjaya MYFutureJobs: Dari Kampus ke Industri’ at the MPI campus, which starts at 8:00 am until 5:00 pm.

“This programme is a collaboration between PERKESO, MPI and the MPI Alumni Association.

“It is aimed at providing a platform for all job seekers, especially those in MPI and Sibu in general, to meet up with their desired employers and get job interviews on the spot,” Lu said.

Those interested must bring along their latest resume, photocopies of their identification cards (ICs), and academic certificates.

Candidates must come in appropriate attire (formal or semi-formal).

Bukit Assek Assemblyman, Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, is expected to be the guest of honour to officiate the event at 10:00 am.

Candidates are urged to register their attendance through https://careerfair.myfuturejobs.gov.my/careerfair/socsocareerfair/daftarjobseeker.php.
