KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has ramped up its management and maintenance efforts, focusing on drain cleaning and grass cutting in residential and village areas under its jurisdiction.

The Council, in a statement yesterday, said the initiative will serve to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and aesthetic value of community spaces in Kota Samarahan.

“However, there are various challenges encountered in the field, such as structures and waste being dumped into drains, particularly in the front and back drains of residential properties.

“Therefore, residents are encouraged to clear and remove such structures to facilitate maintenance work and ensure it meets the required standards.

“MPKS advises residents to comply and cooperate while the cleaning work is carried out according to the schedule and guidelines,” it said.

It added any obstacles or issues that hinder maintenance work will result in appropriate action by the council, including cutting, removing, and cleaning overgrown plants in the affected areas.

“Additionally, residents are reminded to adhere to MPKS guidelines and avoid planting in public areas or prohibited zones, as this could negatively impact the community’s environment.

“Residents are also encouraged to clean the front and back of their homes and refrain from littering, particularly into drains, along roadsides, or in open areas.

“MPKS urges everyone to dispose of waste responsibly by using the designated waste disposal facilities,” said MPKS.

MPKS also seeks the cooperation of residents to dismantle unauthorised structures to ensure smooth maintenance processes.

“Let us work together to make Kota Samarahan cleaner, safer, and greener,” it said.
