KUCHING: In celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2025, the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Kuching Branch paid a heartwarming visit to the Sarawak General Hospital Paediatric Ward, bringing joy and comfort to young patients and their families.

As part of the visit, MRC Kuching presented special hampers to three newborn babies who entered the world on May 8, making their arrival even more memorable on this global day of humanitarian celebration.

The branch also collaborated with Singapore Chicken Rice to distribute 120 packets of its signature meals to children admitted to the hospital’s paediatric ward.

“This year’s theme, ‘On the Side of Humanity’, reminds us to celebrate the spirit of humanitarianism and recognise the individuals who make a real difference in their communities,” said Chin Siew Kiaw, Nursing Superintendent of the MRC Kuching Branch.

She further highlighted that standing on the side of humanity also means standing with those who make humanitarian work possible.

“Volunteers and staff, often from the communities affected, are at the heart of our movement’s reach and impact.

“Through their daily presence, perseverance, and compassion, we are able to respond swiftly, build trust, and stand alongside people in crisis.

“Despite uncertainty and challenges, they continue to show up, donning their vests, offering care, and upholding our shared humanitarian mission,” she added.
