BINTULU: Over 198 participants turned up for the “Mari Mencuba Sukan Muaythai” programme at Naim Street Mall, Bintulu Paragon last weekend, reflecting strong local interest in the combat sport.
The initiative aims to introduce muaythai to the community while promoting discipline, personal development, and a healthy lifestyle, particularly among children and youth.
The programme was led by full-time Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) coaches Aman Koboi and Zulkeplia Abdul Rahman, supported by experienced trainers from the PS Bintulu Muaythai Club.
Organisers attributed the high turnout to early and ongoing promotion, including during the launch of the Friend of Scout programme, which helped raise awareness and community engagement.
Acknowledging the collaborative effort, the organisers thanked the Bintulu Education Office, Bintulu Muaythai Association, PS Muaythai Club, SSC, and Naim Street Mall for their support in ensuring the event’s success.
The programme is expected to continue in the future, with organisers hoping to nurture potential muaythai athletes and foster broader community interest in this disciplined and prestigious combat sport.
