SELANGOR: Sarawak Sports Corporation’s (SSC) Chief Executive Officer, Mu’azamir Jili, said the health of all Sarawak athletes competing at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) Selangor 2026 will be closely monitored amid the haze affecting the host state.
He said the measure was necessary to ensure athletes are not adversely affected by the deteriorating air quality during the biennial Games.
“Yesterday, we received a notification from the National Sports Council (NSC) advising all teams competing in SUKMA 2026 to continuously monitor the health of their athletes and ensure they remain in good condition.
“We have to make sure none of them are affected by the haze currently affecting Selangor,” he told reporters while upon arrival of the first batch of the Sarawak contingent at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 today.
Mu’azamir also urged officials from all participating teams to ensure their athletes stay well-hydrated.
“We know the haze has contributed to the unusually hot temperatures. Therefore, I advise all athletes to drink plenty of water,” he added.
