KUCHING: Mui Lee Enterprise Sdn Bhd and Persafe Engineering Sdn Bhd formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the introduction of Australia’s certified green blasting technology to Sarawak for the first time.
The MoU was signed by of Mui Lee Enterprise Sdn Bhd director David Chiew and Persafe Engineering Sdn Bhd managing director and CEO Peru Balan Ding, witnessed by Invest Victoria Australia senior investment director Michael Baird, at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Tuesday (July 15).
This initiative involves the acquisition of a state-of-the-art abrasive blasting machine manufactured by Abrasive Blasting Service and Supplies Pty Ltd (ABSS) based in Victoria, Australia.
Chiew stated that the introduction of Australian green blasting technology marks a significant step towards establishing a new benchmark for sustainable industrial services in Sarawak.
“This initiative sets a new standard for environmentally sustainable blasting and painting services for industries here.
“Today marks a significant event where we come together to introduce green blasting technology from Australia to Sarawak.”

The collaboration aligns with the Sarawak government’s push for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) compliance, a directive gaining momentum across industries nationwide.
Meanwhile, Ding said the signing reflects their commitment to supporting the government’s ESG agenda by introducing green technology in blasting and painting services.
“This signing ceremony is in response to the government’s ESG push, which calls on industry players to contribute in their respective fields.
“What we are doing today is exactly that; playing our role as a blasting and painting provider by introducing green technology that supports ESG compliance through this collaboration.”
Chiew added that the Australian-certified technology being deployed in Sarawak meets internationally recognised environmental standards.
“Green can mean many things, but in this case, we’re referring to standards recognised by the Australian government, which we’ve presented to the Sarawak government.
“This technology meets those standards and is acknowledged as a green solution.”
As part of the collaboration, Mui Lee Enterprise is responsible for introducing the technology, while Persafe will construct the necessary facilities.
“Persafe will build the facility on our land.
“This includes space for blasting and painting, and enough area to handle spools or metal materials that require multiple coating layers, typically three coats.
“A sizable laydown area is needed to accommodate each stage before the next layer is applied,” Ding said.
With this first-of-its-kind deployment in Sarawak, both companies are optimistic that their model will inspire a wider adoption of ESG-compliant technologies across Borneo and beyond.
