MUKAH: Deputy Minister of Economy and Member of Parliament for Mukah, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, recently handed over grants amounting to RM252,000 to recipients in the Mukah parliamentary constituency.
According to Hanifah, the allocation was provided by the Sarawak Government and channeled through the Minor Rural Projects (MRP) Phase II 2025.
“It is meant to support personal development, repair and upgrading works of infrastructure, as well as the implementation of welfare programmes for the local community.
“At the same time, the grants awarded can also help improve the socioeconomic status of the Mukah community,” she said.
She stated this at the MRP 2025 Special Project Grant Handover Event held at the Mukah Service Centre recently.
In conjunction with the event, Hanifah also took the opportunity to brief the recipients on the implementation of the Sales and Services Tax (SST) by the government.
Through the briefing, she hoped that the recipients will better understand the importance and implementation of the taxes in supporting national development.
Meanwhile, a total of 28 beneficiary representatives received the allocations.
Among them were Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) and longhouses, Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG), and various non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
