KUCHING: The Air Pollutant Index (API) in Mukah recorded an unhealthy level as of 4:00 pm today, while other parts of Sarawak recorded moderate and good air quality, according to Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB).
Mukah recorded an API reading of 106 as at 4:00 pm today.
Any API reading between 101 and 200 is categorised as unhealthy and may pose health risks to sensitive groups such as children, the elderly and individuals with respiratory conditions.
Across the state, other locations reported moderate air quality, with readings as follows: Sibu (89), Kapit (72), Miri (73), Kuching (71), Bintulu (71), Sarikei (68), Samarahan (67), Samalaju (66), Sri Aman (66), Serian (62), ILP Miri (69), and Limbang (58).
Bario recorded the best air quality with a reading of 41, categorised as good.
Meanwhile, Politeknik Mukah in a separate statement said that the polytechnic is taking steps to face hazy conditions as the air quality in Mukah reaches unhealthy levels.
Politeknik Mukah corporate communications unit head, Ahmad Nabil Mohamad, said the polytechnic had activated its haze action plan, which included providing face masks and having a medical assistant (MA) on duty throughout the week.
