MUKAH: Students from this division showcased their talents and creativity at the Sarawak-level Intellectual Carnival 2025, which concluded today after four days of activities held from April 14 to 17 at Politeknik Mukah.

The carnival brought together students from across the Mukah Division, including the districts of Mukah, Dalat and Daro, to participate in various language and literature-based programmes aimed at fostering creativity, critical thinking and self-confidence.

The closing ceremony was officiated by the Mukah District Officer, Peleadzman Ahip, who represented and read out a speech on behalf of Economy Deputy Minister cum Mukah Member of Parliament, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.

In her speech read by Peleadzman, Hanifah stated that the carnival had provided an important platform for young people to unlock their potential beyond the classroom.

She expressed her belief that the event had given students an excellent opportunity to explore and develop their talents, and commended the teachers for their wholehearted support and encouragement.

Hanifah emphasised that creating well-rounded students intellectually, spiritually, mentally and physically requires dedication and effort from both educators and the students themselves.

“Sometimes, we focus too much on academic success and overlook other important areas.

“By engaging in co-curricular activities like this, we can help students grow holistically,” she stated.

Hanifah also highlighted the importance of instilling values such as teamwork, resilience and innovation to prepare the younger generation to take on leadership roles and contribute to Sarawak’s Sarawak Maju 2030 vision.

“These students will be the leaders of tomorrow.

“It is crucial that we develop not only the state’s physical infrastructure but also the mindset and capabilities of our youth,” she added.
