MUKAH: This division is set to mark a new milestone in air transportation with the arrival of AirBorneo’s inaugural flights on Jan 2, involving simultaneous landings at Mukah Airport and Tanjung Manis Airport.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the arrivals are expected to serve as a catalyst for improved domestic air connectivity, particularly across Sarawak’s central coastal region.
This was revealed by Mukah Division Resident Datuk Kueh Lei Poh during the Preparatory Meeting for the First Arrival of AirBorneo Aircraft, held at the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre in Mukah yesterday (Dec 30). Also present were Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi and heads of departments.
The inaugural AirBorneo operations on the day will involve two aircraft types with different arrival schedules.
At Mukah Airport, an ATR 72 aircraft is scheduled to depart from Kuching International Airport at 8.25 am and arrive at 9.20 am.
Meanwhile, at Tanjung Manis Airport, a De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft is scheduled to depart from Kuching International Airport at 8.45 am and arrive at 9.25 am.
To commemorate the inaugural arrivals, official welcoming ceremonies featuring a symbolic water salute will be held at both airports.
