MUKAH: Mukah has the potential to become a renowned cycling sports destination both locally and internationally through the inaugural Mukah Criterium Challenge 2024.
Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi stated that the Mukah Criterium Challenge 2024 drew inspiration from the success of the Layar Cycling Event in Betong Division and the Kuala Baram Race in Miri Division.
“I believe Mukah can follow in their footsteps and become a focal point for cycling sports in the future,” he said during his speech at the closing ceremony of the Mukah Criterium Challenge Mukah 2024, held at Medan Ria Mukah yesterday (Dec 8).
Organised by GS Cycling Club in collaboration with the Mukah Resident Office, the Mukah Criterium Challenge 2024 successfully attracted 180 participants, including from Sarawak, Peninsular Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and South Africa.
Abdul Yakub further added that this event provides an opportunity to unearth new talents, especially among youth and the younger generation, in the sport of cycling.
The Mukah Criterium Challenge 2024 featured eight competition categories.
