KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Berhad’s (SEB) Bumiputera Participation Committee (BPBC) members recently broke fast with Senate President Datuk Mutang Tagal.
One of the main highlights of the event was to honour Mutang, who previously served as a member of BPBC.
The event held at a hotel here last Saturday (Mar 16) was attended by the committee chairman Datuk Idris Buang, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN).
In his speech, Idris commended Mutang’s contribution where the latter had played a significant role in ensuring Bumiputera involvement in business within SEB.
“He (Mutang) also holds the position of the president of the Orang Ulu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OUCCI) and was former Bukit Mas MP from 1982-1990.
“He has also been a strong advocated of Bumiputera interests and progress in any sector in Sarawak, a responsibility that should be shared all politicians as it is in line with the objectives of the state and federal governments,” he said.
Idris also said Mutang has always emphasised the importance of Bumiputera entrepreneurs collaborating with non-Bumiputeras as a crucial step towards advancing Sarawak through synergistic, meaningful, and equitable development.
