KUCHING: Mutiara Mortgage & Credit Sdn Bhd (MUTIARA) has approved 2,480 home financing applications worth RM209 million to date, reflecting growing demand for affordable housing solutions in Sarawak.

The milestone was highlighted during MUTIARA’s Open Day 2026, which also saw the presentation of financing offer letters to successful applicants under the Rumah Spektra Mutiara (RSM) Scheme and Housing Deposit and Repayment Assistance Scheme (HDRAS).

MUTIARA’s Chief Executive Officer, Awang Irwan Awang Shawal, said the achievement reflects the trust placed in the organisation by the people of Sarawak.

“This reflects the trust placed in us by the people of Sarawak,” he said, adding that MUTIARA remains committed to expanding access to affordable home financing.

He described the Open Day as more than just a public engagement initiative, but also a platform to bring housing solutions closer to the people.

“Today is not merely an event, but a meaningful platform for us to engage directly with the public, bring our services closer to the people, and support more Sarawakians in their journey to homeownership,” he said when speaking during the event at Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Wisma Sultan Tengah, Jalan Sukma, here today.

Under MUTIARA’s financing schemes, eligible applicants benefit from subsidised profit rates of one per cent for the B40 group and three per cent for the M40 group, with financing of up to 100 per cent and repayment tenures of up to 40 years.

The scheme also includes a second-generation financing feature, allowing heirs to continue repayments and retain family homes.

Meanwhile, the HDRAS initiative, introduced in 2022, provides RM10,000 in deposit assistance to eligible first-time homebuyers from the B40 and M40 groups.

Since its introduction, the scheme has benefited 3,115 applicants, with total assistance amounting to RM30.1 million.

“This support represents a meaningful step towards making homeownership more attainable, especially for young families and individuals,” he added.

Awang Irwan also highlighted the RSM initiative as a strategic collaboration between MUTIARA and local councils, coordinated by the Ministry of Public Health and Local Government (MPHLG).

The recipients of financing offer letters presented during the event are among successful applicants under the RSM pilot project, implemented in collaboration with the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), marking the first rollout under the initiative.

The Open Day also featured participation from various agencies and organisations, providing visitors with access to financial guidance, housing information and related support services in one place.
