Malaysia’s hiring system has long frustrated job seekers and employers. MyJobe’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pais Serhii, believes AI-driven job matchmaking can fix the gaps, humanise recruitment, and strengthen the country’s business ecosystem.

Connecting talent and businesses

FOR years, job seekers and employers have quietly agreed on one thing: the hiring system is broken. Between ghosting, outdated platforms, and mismatched expectations, most Malaysians walk away from the job market feeling frustrated – sometimes even defeated.

Seeing a widening gap between successful hirings and countless missed opportunities, founder and CEO of the hiring platform MyJobe, Pais Serhii, decided it was time to rebuild the system from the ground up, with the help of 21st-century technology – artificial intelligence (AI).

“I find that the workforce industry in Malaysia lacks proper matching of talents within the existing pool of individuals. With traditional hiring websites losing their reliability, I envision a hiring platform supported by AI. With these tools, we are able to improve functionality and ensure better results for both employer and employee,” he said.

Giving an example, Pais explained that traditional hiring websites require constant monitoring to catch suitable opportunities. At times, employers upload their requirements only after a job seeker has already browsed the site, resulting in a missed opportunity for both parties.

“So, we are trying to solve that,” Pais said.

Through MyJobe’s system, employers receive notifications about potential candidates, while job seekers are alerted to suitable openings.

A more humanised hiring process

But as with many sectors working with AI, the human touch is often lacking. Explaining what a more humanised hiring process looks like, Pais shared that on MyJobe, the final decision on a candidate still lies with the company posting the vacancy.

“With AI, hiring becomes more seamless and efficient. Good candidates are shortlisted by the system to be reviewed by companies. Additionally, on our platform, each individual has a profile that can be rated,” he elaborated.

Among other features, the platform offers a resume generator to help users create strong profiles. MyJobe also includes a feature designed to reduce ‘candidate ghosting’, nudging employers to formally reject candidates when necessary.

This ensures that applicants do not wait indefinitely for one job opening. “Candidate ghosting is an old habit many companies still practise. There’s no one to blame – perhaps employers feel bad about rejecting a candidate – but this habit causes a lot of confusion for applicants.”

With this feature, Pais believes candidates deserve clarity about where they stand.

The platform also includes a partnership-matching option, where AI identifies potential collaborations between companies beyond job hiring. Businesses looking to partner on projects can now find each other through the website. This helps nurture a Malaysian business ecosystem where companies grow together.

The future of Malaysia with MyJobe

With Malaysia being the first country to experience this AI-driven opportunity-seeking platform, Pais foresees expansion into neighbouring Southeast Asian countries. He believes this will trigger business growth across the region, with Malaysia positioned to benefit significantly.

However, he expressed concerns about the local talent pool, noting that many Malaysians continue to seek opportunities abroad. Pais believes these missed opportunities can be reduced when employees and employers share the same vision – because aligned visions lead to stronger, more sustainable outcomes.

“When the team understands the company’s vision, they will value it and move alongside it to ensure the company thrives.” To him, this was the most important aspect when building the team behind MyJobe. It is a belief that not only shaped his leadership but also became the backbone of MyJobe – a platform built for people, powered by AI, and driven by a shared vision for Malaysia’s future.
