KUCHING: mySalam, Malaysia’s national takaful protection scheme for the B40 community, marked the month of independence by hosting the ‘Karnival 3K: Kewangan, Kesihatan dan Kebajikan’ in Samariang today.
Officiating the event, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the carnival was not merely about exhibitions or entertainment but a vital platform for the government to engage directly with the people.
“It is a platform to reach out to the people, to listen to their voices, and to directly share government initiatives in an open and inclusive manner. This is in line with the spirit of MADANI, which emphasises well-being, justice and participation,” he said.

Fadillah stressed that the government remains committed to supporting the B40 group most affected by the rising cost of living through initiatives such as ‘Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah’, _‘Bantuan Sara Hidup’, ‘Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40’ (PeKa B40), ‘Program Perumahan Rakyat’ and ‘Sumbangan Asas Rahmah’.
He highlighted mySalam as a major achievement in providing free health protection to the low-income community.
“This is not just financial assistance but a reflection of the government’s commitment to easing the burden of the people. To date, more than 1.7 million Malaysians, including Sarawakians, have benefited from mySalam,” he said.
Since its implementation in 2019, mySalam has disbursed RM1.25 billion in claims nationwide, offering up to RM8,000 cash for critical illnesses and a daily hospitalisation allowance of RM50.
Fadillah also called on Sarawakians to check their eligibility and fully utilise the scheme.
“The government is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in development and social protection,” he stressed.
The carnival featured financial literacy sessions, free health screenings under PeKa B40, and the donation of 140 food baskets to underprivileged families, supported by Great Eastern Takaful Bhd, the Malaysian Takaful Association, and Mydin Kuching.
