KUCHING: The Malaysia Tourism Quality Assurance (MyTQA) recognition serves as a testament to the tourism industry’s commitment to service excellence and continuous improvement, says Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Sarawak Director, Debbie Jenggut Nyelang.

Speaking at the MyTQA Plaque and Certificate of Recognition Presentation event held here recently, Debbie said the award underscores the efforts of industry players in maintaining high standards of quality, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.

“This recognition not only reflects the strong commitment of our tourism operators towards excellence but also highlights their dedication to providing world-class services to visitors, particularly here in Sarawak,” she said.

She congratulated the three recipients honoured under the MyTQA programme – Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), which earned a Gold recognition for 2023-2026; Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), which received Gold recognition for Semenggoh Wildlife Centre and Niah National Park for 2024-2027; and Jong Crocodile Farm & Zoo, which achieved Silver recognition for 2024-2027.

She also expressed appreciation to the industry players, MOTAC Sarawak, and members of the media for their support and collaboration in advancing Malaysia’s tourism quality framework.

“Today’s event is not merely about recognition, but a celebration of the continued partnership between the Ministry and industry stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to uphold the nation’s image as a world-class destination,” she added.

She explained that MyTQA, introduced by the MOTAC, acts as a benchmark to ensure quality assurance across Malaysia’s tourism sector.

Through this recognition, tourists can be assured of services that are safe, customer-oriented, and consistent with international expectations.

She also encouraged all recipients to view the recognition as a catalyst for ongoing improvement, adding that even Silver-level recipients have opportunities to enhance their standards and reapply for higher ratings in future assessments.

“Let this achievement serve as a motivation to continuously improve service quality.

“As we move closer to Visit Malaysia Year 2026, we must ensure that our products and services reflect the best of Malaysia’s hospitality and professionalism.”

The ceremony was attended by MOTAC Sarawak’s Assistant Director, Zurina Zainal Abidin Shah; BCCK’s Chief Operating Officer, Rayner Simon; SFC’s Deputy General Manager, Japanie Bujang; and Jong Crocodile Farm and Zoo’s Manager, Teoh Yia Qing.
