KUCHING: Associations or clubs are essential to the development of individuals, particularly youth, as they give them a platform for participating in healthy activities.
Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, emphasised this point by stating that these associations or clubs give young people a way to get involved in activities without engaging in an improper way.
“With the establishment of clubs such as the MyVi Borneo Club, the youth can engage in various events and develop themselves for personal growth and cultivate leadership skills,” he said at the MyVi Borneo Club’s 9th Anniversary and Family Day event at Sumiran Eco Park and Resort in Batu Kawah here last night (Mar 10).
Rentap’s speech was read by the political secretary to Premier Abang Abdul Aziz Abang Draup, who officiated at the event.
Elaborating, he said that the MyVi Borneo Club also played a significant role in encouraging youth to engage in car-related sports.
“I also want to congratulate the club for organising not only motorsports activities but also corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes to help those in need,” he said.
Therefore, he said, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development will always be supportive of the involvement of youth in any organised activities and welcome any ideas that could benefit Sarawak.
Meanwhile, MyVi Borneo Club president Andiazrul Johan commended the Sirion Indonesia Club Pontianak Chapter for their willingness to travel at 2am from Pontianak to Kuching, passing via the Tebedu and Biawak borders, to take part in the three-day event that they had organised.
“I would like to inform you that I have talked to Rentap about the MyVi Borneo Club making a return visit to Pontianak, Indonesia, next year.
“During that trip, we aim to showcase the image of Malaysia and Sarawak to the people of Pontianak,” he said.
The MyVi Borneo Club, which was founded in May 2014, currently has a membership of over 500 individuals, including members from Peninsula Malaysia and Sabah.
Also present at the event were Batu Kawa Penghulu Sariee Mansor, Sirion Indonesia Club Pontianak Chapter president Rizky Fajary Lestiawan, MyVi Borneo Club advisor Mohd Termizi Zolpata, MyVi Borneo Sabah representative Hafizan Hamil, and Sumiran Eco Park and Resort managing director Sudaryo Osman.
