KUCHING: Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri has cautioned the public against a fake artificial intelligence (AI)-generated video circulating on social media that misuses her image and voice.
In a Facebook post, Nancy said the video, which is linked to a Telegram service under the name ‘Zulaikha Firdaus’ is completely fabricated and misleading.
“I would like to stress that the AI-generated video currently circulating on social media, which uses my voice and image and is linked to a Telegram service under the name ‘Zulaikha Firdaus’ — is fake and not authentic,” she said.
She clarified that she has never been involved in any activities shown in the video and has not given any party permission to use her name or image for deceptive purposes.
Nancy also provided a link to the fake Facebook account and urged the public to report it to the relevant authorities or the social media platform to stop the spread of false information.
“I urge the public not to be easily deceived by the tricks of these irresponsible parties, and to immediately report the fake account (https://www.facebook.com/share/179x5xy4of/) to the authorities or the respective social media platform,” she added.
Nancy urged the public to remain vigilant and work together to protect families and communities from such scams.
“Let us all stay vigilant and protect our families and communities from such scams,” she said.
The minister’s warning comes amid rising concerns over the misuse of AI technology to create deceptive content impersonating public figures, potentially misleading the public and damaging reputations.
