Nanga Ngemah-Nanga Temalat road project to begin on Feb 20

SONG: The construction of 9.6-km stretch connecting Nanga Ngemah in Kanowit and Nanga Temalat here is expected to begin soon, said Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He revealed that the contractor appointed for the project, Sarcon (M) Sdn Bhd, was scheduled to enter the site next month.

“The contractor will enter the (construction) site on February 20 and the project is scheduled to be completed within 30 months,” he told Bernama after visiting the site of the first and second work packages of Nanga Ngemah-Nanga Temalat road project here yesterday.

Also present were Rural and Regional Development Ministry Secretary-General, Datuk Borhan Dolah and his deputy, Datuk Azizan Mohd Sidin. Nanta also announced that the closing date for the second work package tender, namely the construction of a 5.1km bypass road, would be on February 20.

Meanwhile, he disclosed that the tender for the construction of a mirror bridge across Sungai Yong was closed on January 23 and was now in the evaluation process.

Earlier during the visit, Nanta and more than 20 senior officers of the ministry were briefed about the ongoing projects in the Kapit Division by Song District Officer, Jackline August and Sarawak Public Works Department Regional Manager (Central Regional Office), Cassidy Morris.
