KUCHING: Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, has strongly denied a viral claim alleging that he had issued a statement regarding political cooperation between Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS).
Nanta, who is also the Secretary-General of GPS, said the statement circulating on social media was completely false and had never been issued by him.
“I strongly deny the claim that has gone viral recently suggesting that I made certain remarks related to political cooperation,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page today.
Nanta expressed disappointment over the spread of the false claim, saying it could mislead the public.
“I am very disappointed with the actions of irresponsible parties spreading fake news that confuses various parties,” he said.
He also urged the public to verify information before sharing it.
“Stop spreading unauthenticated information. Verify the facts before sharing,” he said.
The viral graphic claimed that GPS had no barrier to cooperating with PAS and suggested that the issue of GPS being unable to work with the party had never been officially raised.
