KUCHING: Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, has firmly denied allegations linking him to a corruption scandal involving the Pan Borneo Highway Sabah (WP35) project.
The claims, which surfaced via a Telegram channel and have since circulated widely on social media platforms, accused Nanta of being directly involved in misconduct related to the federal infrastructure initiative.
Nanta described the allegations as slanderous, baseless and malicious, and stressed that he strongly refutes all accusations made against him in his capacity as a minister.
“As a politician and government official entrusted with serving the people and the nation, these accusations not only damage my personal integrity but also tarnish the reputation of the Ministry of Works and the Government of Malaysia,” he said in his Facebook post today.
Nanta expressed concern over the rapid spread of the defamatory message, particularly its circulation on various social media platforms, which he believes could shape public perception negatively.
In response to the viral claims, a police report was lodged by his senior private secretary at the Tun H.S. Lee Police Station in Kuala Lumpur.
“I will give my full cooperation in any investigation and trust the authorities to take appropriate action against those responsible for spreading these false accusations,” he added.
Nanta also warned against the use of slander as a political weapon or personal agenda, saying it undermines the integrity of public discourse and democratic governance.
“The truth must prevail, and no individual’s reputation should be destroyed for political gain,” he stressed.
