KAPIT: Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi is sad by the ongoing floods that have affected several areas in his constituency, including schools and residential areas.

In response to the situation, the local MP said he had instructed all relevant authorities to take necessary measures to assist affected residents.

He also urged the public to comply with instructions from authorities to ensure their safety.

“I am saddened by this incident and hope that all residents remain cautious and adhere to the directives given to avoid any unwanted incidents,” he said in a Facebook statement.

Continuous heavy rain over the past few days has caused widespread flooding, with five schools submerged, namely the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Nanga Yong, SK Bena Sut, SK Nanga Kebiaw, SK Nanga Antaroh, and SK Nanga Bena.

However, floodwaters at SK Nanga Kebiaw, SK Nanga Antaroh, and SK Nanga Bena have started to recede.

Apart from schools, several other areas have also been affected, including Kampung Muhibah at Jalan Bleteh, Kampung Baru at Jalan Abang Sulaihi, Lorong 7 at Jalan Airport, and Nanga Seranau.

Additionally, roads and electricity supply had to be temporarily cut off in several locations, namely Sungai Sibau (Rh John Ramba), Rh Riti, Nanga Tulie, Pulau Pisang, and Nanga Baleh.
