KUCHING: Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has been appointed to carry out the duties and functions of the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) effective Dec 3.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri bin Abu Bakar said the decision was conveyed by the Prime Minister during last Friday’s (Nov 28) Cabinet meeting.
“The Prime Minister informed the Cabinet on Friday that Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the Minister of Works, will carry out the duties and functions of the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives effective Dec 3 2025,” he said in a statement today.
The post fell vacant following the completion of Datuk Ewon Benedick’s tenure as minister. Ewon, the Member of Parliament for Penampang, previously led the ministry.
Shamsul Azri expressed the government’s appreciation for Ewon’s service, stating the administration was grateful for his contributions and commitment.
“The government records its appreciation and thanks all the contributions and dedicated service rendered by Datuk Ewon Benedick throughout his tenure as the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives,” he said.
Ewon announced his resignation as a Cabinet minister on Nov 8 and contested in the Sabah state election.
He was appointed as one of the deputy chief ministers after he retained the Kadamaian state seat for a third term with 11,977 votes, defeating seven opponents with a majority of 9,672.
