SIBU: Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi (pic) announced that he will resign as Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) deputy president at the triennial general assembly (TGA) to be held on March 9.
According to him, after seven years with SDNU since 2012, it is time to give way to younger people.
“I have discussed this with the SDNU president.
“Although I no longer hold the highest position in SDNU, I am ready to assist this union as I am still a member,” he said at the opening of SDNU Sibu House in Taman Bougenvilla, Jalan Ulu Oya here yesterday.
Nanta expressed his gratitude to members who had helped him to lift up the dignity of SDNU throughout his involvement.
He spoke of his appointment as special advisor to the Chief Minister’s Office by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg recently.
“My job is to help the Chief Minister in terms of development in rural areas.”
“This is because he feels I have experience as a former Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development at the federal level,” he added.
Also present at the event were SDNU Sibu chairman Chambai Lindong as well as Industries and Investment Assistant Minister Malcolm Mussen Lamoh.
