BEIJING: Just in time for Sarawak Day, Sarawak-born entrepreneur Jasmine Kho has officially launched Nasi Ah Ma, a Malaysian eatery bringing the beloved flavours of nasi campur to the heart of Sanlitun.
Tucked near Jing-A in Xingfucun, Nasi Ah Ma serves a rotating selection of six to eight side dishes paired with rice and homemade curry sauce.
Diners can start with Ah Ma’s Basic (RMB 18), a plate of rice with curry, a sunny-side-up egg and seasonal vegetables, then customise it with meat or vegetarian add-ons for an extra RMB 20.

Set meals include Nasi Kari Ayam (RMB 58), featuring chicken curry and lok lok, and Nasi Rendang (RMB 68), served with beef rendang and wings berempah.
For groups, Ah Ma’s Big (RMB 138) offers a generous platter of six dishes.
Side options include Sarawak Laksa Kway Teow (RMB 48), Beef Ball Kway Teow Soup (RMB 48), Uncle’s Chicken Satay (RMB 5), Wing Berempah (RMB 10), and Lok Lok (RMB 8).
Kho said the concept was inspired by the spirit of Malaysian grandmothers—Ah Ma in Hokkien and Teochew—whose doors and kitchens were always open. “Once you shout ‘Ah Ma’, you’re welcomed home,” she said. “That sense of comfort extends to the crockery—we’re using the exact same chinaware found in Ah Ma’s home.”

Daily and weekly specials rotate with the seasons and include dishes like ayam masak merah, kungpao sotong, itik lemak masak kunyit, sambal petai prawn, and daging masak hitam.
Diners can also opt for hidang (family-style) servings.
Whether you’re vegetarian, spice-averse or fully plant-based, Nasi Ah Ma promises something for everyone including toddlers. “NASI is a place for all,” Kho added. “And if you’re vegan, you’ll be the happiest person here.”
