KUCHING: Queenie Ting Kung Ni narrowly missed her 50m target but still clinched gold in the women’s discus throw at the Borneo Games Kuching 2025 with a 49.77m effort.

She put second-place Fatin Shazlina Jonnie nearly 17 metres behind (32.80m), while third-place Ng Jin Jun (30.00m) trailed by a significant margin.

The Sarikei-born athlete, who holds Malaysia’s national discus record of 52.77m, expressed both satisfaction and determination after her performance.

“I’m very happy and excited because the atmosphere and the Sarawak team made this competition feel different.

“I am just thrilled and excited to be here,” Queenie told Sarawak Tribune at the Sarawak Stadium today.

Reflecting on her performance, she added that she fell just 0.23m short of her target.

“I achieved 49.77m, but my goal for this competition was 50 metres,” she said.
