KUCHING: Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak has taken another significant step in expanding its international network through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Formosa University (NFU).
The MoU, signed recently in Huwei, Taiwan, by NFU president Prof Dr Shinn-Liang Chang and UiTM Sarawak rector Prof Dr Firdaus Abdullah, and witnessed by International Affairs vice-president Prof Dr Shou-Yin Yang, signifies a new chapter in UiTM Sarawak’s global engagement journey.
According to Prof Firdaus, this collaboration represents another important milestone in the university’s journey towards strengthening UiTM Sarawak’s international presence.
“Through this partnership, we aim to foster academic excellence, research innovation, and cross-border collaboration that benefit both institutions.”
The agreement outlines several strategic areas of cooperation, including the joint organisation of international conferences, student mobility and exchange programmes, collaborative research and innovation projects, partnerships between Centres of Excellence, and summer school and camp initiatives aimed at enhancing students’ global exposure and technical competencies.
Following the signing ceremony, the UiTM Sarawak delegation toured several key facilities at NFU, including the Agricultural and Biotechnology Product Inspection Services, the Department of Biotechnology, the Ma-Kuang Organic Farm School (Department of Agricultural Technology), and Prof Peng Chi-Chung’s Pilot Food Processing Plant.
These visits offered valuable insights into Taiwan’s advancements in sustainable agriculture, biotechnology, and food innovation.
Prof Firdaus added that UiTM Sarawak and NFU are committed to fostering research excellence, innovation, and global partnerships, working together towards a more sustainable and resilient future.
