KUALA LUMPUR: National lawn bowls camp created history by clinching a maiden women’s four title at the Australian Open in Gold Coast today.

The Malaysian quartet comprising two former world champions, Aleena Ahmad Nawawi and Emma Firyana Saroji, together with Nurul Alyani Jamil as well as Syafiqa Haidar Afif Abdul Rahman defeated Victoria 19-13 to seal the title during the 2026 edition final held in Broadbeach Bowls Club.

Speaking after the final, Emma said she was very proud with her teammates on their success.

“Despite up and downs that we went through, we did fantastic and had an amazing game today. I’m really thankful for this,” she said on Bowls Australia Youtube channel.

Today’s feat marked Malaysia’s first title in the Australian Open since 2007 when Siti Zalina Ahmad emerged as women’s singles champion. – BERNAMA
