KUCHING: The National Summit (NatSum) 2025, hosted by the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch, Young Engineers Section (YES), will be held here from July 31 to August 3, bringing together aspiring engineering leaders from across the country.
According to its statement, this year’s summit carries the theme of ‘Empowering Minds, Building Legacies’, symbolising a renewed commitment to shaping the next generation of engineering leaders through inspiration, innovation and immersive experience.
“To date, there are 128 registered participants consisting of young graduate engineers and engineering students from IEM branches all over Malaysia. NatSum 2025 is made possible with the support of Business Events Sarawak.
“Corporate sponsors include DURA Sarawak, Hartanah Construction, Solarvest Borneo, VNM Resources, EB Tech, SAIVER, NYKK Engineering Group, Sarawak Energy Bhd and other leading industry players, highlighting the event’s growing momentum and credibility,” the statement said recently.
NatSum 2025 offers a dynamic blend of professional enrichment and cultural discovery.
“Participants will embark on exclusive technical visits, including to the Sejingkat Power Plant and Sarawak Metro, offering a rare opportunity to explore cutting-edge energy systems and urban transport infrastructure.
“These experiences are designed to not only enhance technical knowledge but to also foster real-world curiosity and interdisciplinary collaboration,” it added.
It also highlighted an excursion to the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV), where participants will engage in a curated team-building session rooted in Sarawak’s diverse ethnic traditions and landscapes.
“Without giving too much away, attendees can look forward to a series of thoughtfully designed games and challenges that will combine engineering-themed strategy, cultural appreciation, and interpersonal collaboration, all set against the scenic backdrop of Mount Santubong.
“This cultural immersion is not simply a detour from technical rigour, it is a deliberate expression of NatSum’s holistic vision, that is to cultivate engineers who are not only technically competent but socially attuned and culturally grounded.”
Meanwhile, The Young Engineers Dinner and Recognition Night, set to be held on August 2 at Theatre Hotel, Kuching, will be graced by Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo.
“Sponsors are provided the unique opportunity to directly engage with Malaysia’s future engineers in a prestigious and celebratory setting, while industry players are also welcomed to participate by purchasing tables.”
