KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak will host the national-level Technical Profession Day 2026 (HPTN 2026) at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Dec 1 and 2.

The event will recognise the contributions of technical professionals to the country’s development and modernisation while encouraging greater participation among young people in technical fields.

According to the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD), preparations for the event moved forward with its pre-launch ceremony held here yesterday (Sept 8).

“Carrying the theme ‘Technical Profession as a Driver of Sustainability’, this year’s HPTN will focus on three key elements — skills, technology and sustainability.

“The three areas reflect future workforce and development needs and are aligned with the development direction of Malaysia and Sarawak, including the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” the department said.

HPTN serves as a platform to recognise the role and contributions of those in technical professions while promoting the development of skilled talent capable of supporting the country’s continued progress.

Sarawak PWD said it also supports efforts to strengthen technical professions and develop skilled manpower capable of contributing to the nation’s advancement and sustainability.
