BAU: The surveying of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land throughout Sarawak will continue, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
He stated that as this year, a total of 1.2 million hectares of NCR have been measured, with more applications coming in frequently.
“What is certain is that we will continue these surveying works as long as there is demand.
“The same goes for the surveying programme for traditional village lands. It will continue to be implemented.
“Those who want their land to be surveyed should submit an application to the Land and Survey Department.”
Awang Tengah said this when met by reporters after presenting land titles under Section 18 of Sarawak Land Code at Sri Singai Hall here on Thursday (Nov 28).
He then stated that there are two stages of surveying under the new NCR initiative.
“The first stage is, of course, perimeter surveying. Once the survey is completed, a gazette will be issued under Section 6 of the State Land Code.
“The second stage is if they want the land to be surveyed individually, they must submit an application, and the surveying work will be carried out on an individual basis.
“The land titles will then be issued under Section 18 of the State Land Code.”
Meanwhile, Awang Tengah said that applicants could take the land surveying cases to court, even if they had requested the government to survey their land.
“Therefore, we ask them to resolve it and wait for the court’s decision.
“If they withdraw the court case, they can still apply to join this new NCR initiative programme.”
Also present during the ceremony were Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Land and Survey Department Kuching district officer Awang Nazri Awang Saperi and other distinguished guests.
