KUCHING: The National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) will be organising a free health screening programme, Jejak Kanser, at CityOne Megamall here this Sunday (Dec 28).
The screening will be held from 10 am to 2 pm at CityOne, in collaboration with the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Stampin Branch and the Kawasan Simpang Tiga Kenyalang village security and development committee (JKKK).
NCSM said the initiative forms part of its ongoing efforts to raise public awareness on cancer prevention and the importance of early detection, which plays a crucial role in improving treatment outcomes and survival rates.
“Early detection can save lives. Through Jejak Kanser, we hope to encourage more people to take proactive steps in monitoring their health, especially those who may be at higher risk,” NCSM said in a statement.
During the programme, members of the public will be able to undergo general health screenings as well as lung and liver cancer assessments at no cost.
Healthcare professionals will also be on site to guide participants through the screening process, explain results and advise on possible next steps if further medical attention is required.
NCSM said the programme is especially encouraged for individuals with a family history of cancer, adding that early intervention can make a significant difference in managing the disease and improving quality of life.
“Collaboration with community-based organisations is key to ensuring wider outreach and accessibility, enabling more members of the public to benefit from preventive healthcare services,” NCSM added.
