SIBURAN: Two hundred and ninety residents from three villages in the Siburan District can now benefit from better facilities after receiving water tanks from the Sarawak government.

Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn affirmed the government’s commitment in ensuring that the people receive adequate basic facilities including clean water supply.

“A total of 125 residents from Kampung Subang, 101 from Kampung Begu, and 64 from Kampung Pesang received this assistance following their reliance on gravity water systems which are often insufficient, especially during the dry season.

“The government’s responsibility is not only to develop major infrastructure, but also to ensure basic needs such as clean water can be met, especially for rural communities that still depend on gravity water systems,” he said at the handover ceremony for water tanks in Kampung Begu recently.

As a proactive measure, the state government has distributed assistance in the form of three-layer water tanks with a capacity of 500 gallons to the residents to ensure a more stable and resilient water supply.

Sagah, who is also Tarat assemblyman, expressed hope that this initiative could enhance the water storage and management system in the villages involved, thus improving well-being and comfort of residents in their daily lives.

Meanwhile, Siburan District Officer Ranum Bari in his speech reminded the recipients to make good use of the facilities provided.

“There have been cases before where the water tanks provided were not fully used. We want to make sure this assistance truly benefits the residents,” he said.
