Nearly 300 Swinburne Sarawak graduates celebrate milestone at BCCK

KUCHING: A total of 296 graduates from Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne) celebrated their grand convocation ceremony held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here yesterday.

Out of the total, 251 were bachelor’s degree graduates, comprising of 117 in business, 46 in computer science, 44 in engineering, 12 in information and communication technology (ICT), 17 in design, six in media and communication, five in science, and four with double degrees in engineering (robotics and mechatronics) and computer science.

In addition, 21 diploma graduates also received their scrolls, comprising 18 in business management and three in accounting.

Swinburne also celebrated 21 master’s degree graduates and three Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) graduates in the field of business.

Another 31 graduates received their awards in absentia.

The attending graduates represented a diverse array of nationalities, including Malaysia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Syria, Vietnam, Yemen and Zimbabwe.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were the State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, and his wife, Datuk Fatimah Iskandar, who were present to celebrate their child’s graduation with a Bachelor of Design degree.

The ceremony was presided over by Professor Simon Ridings, Swinburne Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Chief Academic Officer.
