PADAWAN: Needy families at three villages near Bengoh Dam received food parcels sponsored by young entrepreneurs to ease their burdens.
A total of 64 parcels were distributed under the charity programme held by Persatuan Pembangunan Insan Sarawak (PPIS) in collaboration with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society(MRCS) in Sarawak.
PPIS president Manjeet Kaur Sidhu said at least 30 people participated in the programme to deliver the food aid to the villagers.

Kampung Muk Ayung was the first destination the group went by boats to deliver 33 food parcels, each worth RM150, consisting of a bag of rice, sugar, syrup bottle and other essentials, while MRCS gave masks and sanitisers.
The group then delivered 17 food parcels to needy families in Kampung Nyegol where the villagers were waiting for their arrival to pick up the food.
The group then went up to Kampung Sting to deliver another 14 parcels to be distributed to each household.
“The collaboration with the MRCS and the food sponsored by entrepreneurs in this programme has been successful.
“We hope that more entrepreneurs will join in to help us and reach out in the future,” said Manjeet.
“I want to express my thanks to them for coming out to go and deliver the food to the villagers, and I hope this collaboration can carry on,” she said while visiting Kampung Sting yesterday (April 10).
MRCS Stampin Branch Deputy Chairman Chew Kim Soon also expressed his thanks to PPIS for coordinating the charity programme.
“This programme gave us the opportunity to meet the people in the rural area and to help them by providing the assistance and deliver essentials to families who are in need of help.
“We hope to help more people who are in need especially in the rural areas. I also want to thank the young entrepreneurs for sponsoring the food aid which is enough to ease a villager’s burden and worries,” said Chew.
In addition, Manjeet revealed that her association has plans to carry out health screening together with the Lions Club next in rural areas.
