New BAS.MY bus route launches from Saujanato SMK Agama Matang 2

KUCHING: The BAS.MY Kuching bus service on route Q05M officially began operations today, running from Saujana bus station to SMK Agama Matang 2.

According to the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) Sarawak statement, the route spans 25.8 kilometres and includes 36 bus stops, served by six new OKU-friendly buses.

Its chairman, Michael Kong Feng Nian, together with its director, Cornelia Wong Chui, conducted a site visit in the afternoon at the Matang Vocational College bus stop to inspect the service rollout.

The Q05M route operates from 5:30 am to 7:30 pm on weekdays, with buses arriving every hour and every 30 minutes during peak hours.

On weekends, the service runs from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Fares for the route range between RM0.90 and RM3.30 depending on the travel distance.

Payments can be made using debit or credit cards, e-wallets, or cash.

To make public transport more accessible, BAS.MY Kuching offers free rides for Malaysians who are persons with disabilities (OKU), senior citizens aged 60 and above, school students, and university students with the BAS.MY Concession Card, which can be obtained from the route operator.

Other Malaysians are encouraged to subscribe to the RM50 30-Day Pass, which allows unlimited rides on all BAS.MY Kuching routes.

The launch of route Q05M marks the eighth BAS.MY Kuching route to be fully operational since the service was introduced on March 5, this year.

The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, aims to provide an efficient public transport alternative to ease traffic congestion in Kuching city.
