New body formed in Kapit

KAPIT: A new association, Nanga Antawau Welfare Association Kapit (NAWAK), has been formed here.

Its protem chairman government pensioner Jeffery Kumbong who disclosed this at a press conference recently said NAWAK was registered with Registrar of Societies (ROS) on 9 March 2017.

The deputy chairman of NAWAK is Sekudan Ata,  vice-chairmen (Johnson Nabau and Galau Berandie), secretary (Jadam Iba), publicity chief (Maringgai Jingga), treasurer (Wilfred Nyawai) and assistant treasurer (Ibo Tengom).

The committee members are Peter Muling, Serai Enjop, Anding Jetek, Raymong Ingan, Likong Sanggan, Rick Ragon, Nalong Buda, Julis Ata and Lembang Iba.

NAWAK’s advisors are  businessman Datuk Kristoffer Nyuak Bajok, a former political secretary to the Chief Minister Daniel Jubang Kanyan, contractor

Bujal Jantai, former Pelagus assemblyman George Lagong and Penghulu Jampi Rawing. The legal advisor is Edward Moal Juga.

“NAWAK was formed on the basis, acting as a legal platform to protect and safeguard the people of Nanga Antawau’s interest, rights and welfare.

“Since inception NAWAK has represented residents and landowners of Nanga Antawau dealing with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), SEB project appointed contractors, Land and Survey Department and stakeholders of the Baleh HEP on various local issues related to Baleh HEP,” Jeffrey said.
