KAPIT: Residents of Rumah Jamba and Rumah Lebak here are set to benefit from safer and smoother road access with the implementation of a new bridge and road construction project in the area.

The Sarawak Public Works Department said the project began on Nov 11, 2025 and is scheduled for completion on Feb 10, 2027.

It involves the construction of a new RSJ-type bridge and an access road to improve connectivity for the local community while reducing travel time between settlements.

“Works under the project scope include site clearing, foundation works using micropile systems, construction of the RSJ bridge structure, paved road construction, as well as the installation of drainage systems and other related road facilities,” said the department in a statement.

Once completed, the project is expected to enhance road safety, improve access to surrounding areas and support socio-economic development for residents, particularly in the rural parts of Kapit.
