KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy visit from the Consul-General of the Republic of Indonesia to Sarawak, Abdullah Zulkifli, at the Astana Negeri here today (Oct 28)
During the visit, Abdullah presented his credentials from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto to Wan Junaidi, following the former’s appointment in September.
Also present was Wan Junaidi’s wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The one-hour courtesy call also discussed efforts to further enhance cooperation between Kalimantan and Sarawak which share a common border.
This includes collaboration in the energy sector and, more importantly, connectivity between Sarawak and Indonesia, with Nusantara set to become Indonesia’s new capital city by 2028.
Wan Junaidi also shared his views on the long-standing historical relationship between Sarawak and Kalimantan, which serves as evidence of the close ties between the people of both regions.
