KUCHING: The MADANI Government has completed a nearly RM1-million upgrade on the Kampung Buntal Multipurpose Hall under the MADANI Adopted Village initiative.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said that the RM998,200 project reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing grassroots public facilities in a comprehensive and high-impact manner.
She said the project was implemented over a 28-week period from June 5 to December 18, 2025, involving physical upgrades and facility improvements to ensure a more comfortable, modern and conducive space for the local community.
“This hall is not only upgraded physically, but also functions as a community activity centre.
“This includes programmes for women and families, residents’ meetings, youth activities and the implementation of various social wellbeing initiatives,” she said at the handover event of the MADANI Adopted Village Project 2025 held at Kampung Buntal, Santubong today.
She added that the hall will also serve as a temporary evacuation centre in the event of disasters or emergency situations, further strengthening the community’s preparedness.
Commenting on the MADANI Adopted Village Programme, Nancy said it is a national initiative introduced by the Prime Minister to strengthen government service delivery through a more structured, focused and community-based development approach.
In conjunction with the event, various activities and services were brought directly to residents, including knowledge-sharing sessions, mobile services and health screenings, in line with the government’s holistic approach to public wellbeing.
Nancy also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Finance, the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department, the Sarawak Government and all parties involved for their cooperation in ensuring the successful completion of the project.
She expressed hope that the Kampung Buntal Multipurpose Hall will be fully utilised as a unifying space for the community and a catalyst for social and economic development, in line with the aspirations of an inclusive, prosperous and resilient Malaysia MADANI.
