KANOWIT: A new oil palm planting initiative is being planned for Ngemah constituency to assist local residents with land ownership in generating sustainable income.

Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana revealed that the project, supported by the Mid Rajang Regional Development Agency (MiRRDA), will enable interested participants to cultivate oil palm on plots ranging from three to five hectares.

He made the announcement during the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme and the official launch of the Rumah Julin Vehicle Parking Project in Nanga Ngungun yesterday (Jun 4).

“This initiative aims to empower rural communities, especially those with idle land, by providing opportunities in agriculture that can improve their livelihoods,” he said.

Anyi also emphasised the need for administrative reform and active village leadership, particularly within the Nanga Ngungun Resettlement Scheme (SPS).

“I urge all Tuai Rumah to take a proactive role and collaborate closely with relevant government agencies, especially the District Office, to ensure the success of local development projects,” he added.

During the official launch of the project RM120,000 was allocated to the project under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the Ngemah constituency.

To further encourage community participation, Anyi also announced a RM5,000 grant approved under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) for the Rumah Julin Women’s Bureau, under the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), to support their annual activities.
