KUCHING: The opening of the Muara Sungai Bintangor Police Station today (Feb14) has  brought new hope to over 1,200 residents in the surrounding Satok area as the security of local residents is now more assured.

According to the Satok assemblyman, Datuk Ibrahim Baki, this is due to the fact that more than 30 patrolling police officers will carry out regular patrols across the area covering 16 villages, from Kampung Masjid to Kampung Nombor 6.

“This police station will serve as a complaint reception counter operating 24 hours a day and will house mobile patrol vehicles (MPVs) as well as the Unit Rondaan Berkala (URB) regularly,” he said.

He said these during a press conference after the official handover of the Muara Sungai Bintangor Police Station from the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) to the Sarawak Police, here today (Feb14).

Ibrahim further stated that the establishment of the police station in the area is expected to reduce crime rates as more than 30 police officers and personnel will be stationed there to help maintain the safety of the residents.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Mancha Ata, mentioned that the 24-hour complaint counter will make it easier for residents from Kampung Masjid, Kampung Bintangor Kecil, Kampung Bintangor Besar, Kampung Ajibah Abol, Kampung Nombor, and others to seek assistance.

“In addition, it will also serve as a stopping point for the Marine Police (PPM) while they conduct patrols in the waters of the Sarawak River.

“With the presence of this police station, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) can strengthen the effectiveness of operations, and quality services can be delivered to the community,” he explained.
